Assignment 2: ACTION/REACION ANIMATION

Target Audience

My animation project is a Ballet and Persian Dancing Animation. Target audience of my action/reaction animation project is a 12-16 year old audience. I think this appropriate for my chosen target audience because there are some good examples of interest in cultural varieties and specifically in my project as an example of traditional dance. It also may be of some amusement for teen dancers.

plot

It is an action/reaction example of two dances, ballet and Persian dance. The story begins by a ballet character going to the scene starting ballet, then when she finishes the first part of her scene, a Persian dancer gets in to the scene from the other side and starts a traditional Persian dance.

For the next scene it’s baller’s turn to do her second action which she does in a kind of circle movement and then the Persian dancer reacts in a same way to dance in a circle movement.

Initial Ideas

I had the idea of dancing as I really like any kind of arts presenting dancing styles, so I started looking around on YouTube for videos that were dance related, I ended up with “Thought of You” by Ryan Woodward. It inspired me with a vision of dancing style animation. As regarding to the nature of action/reaction of the project, I decided to choose two different cultural dance style, ballet and Persian dance.

Time Table of the project

week 1:  In the first week I started to looking around on websites for any dance related animation and also for the dance styles I liked to adopt for making my animation video.

week 2: In the second week I worked on some dance designs both on papers and on the Adobe Animate cc by using tablet and pen.

week 3: I started drawing the storyboard of the story and after a few reviews I prepared a summary of the dancing story line.

Week 4: In the following week I worked on cutting the clips I had adopted in final cut pro based on the storyboard I had prepared. I had to edited a few times to get to the exact single parts of the storyboard.

Week 5,6&7: I started making scenes of the production and import the video clips I had edited from the original dance videos on final cut pro and drawing on the frames.

Evaluation

By this project I worked on my skills in the software Adobe Animate CC; at first I found it a little bit confusing, I improved my skills and learning process though, and getting exactly to the work I ended up with a lot of experience like using short cuts which saved me time and made me enjoy much more than the beginning of the project. For adding sound to the animation I researched to find a suitable sound track which matches the movements of the characters dancing, however I eventually liked the music which was of the original dances as it really matches appropriate for the dance. I’m going to add some other music to my project when I can compose music in some composing software.
